The SMSF Industry
The Self Managed Super Fund Professionals' Association of Australia Ltd (SPAA) is recognised as the peak industry association for professionals advising in the self-managed superannuation fund (SMSF) industry.
Over $260 billion worth of assets reside in Australia's SMSFs, or approximately 25% of the total superannuation pool of assets.
More and more Australians are choosing SMSFs to meet their retirement needs. The average member balance of a fund is currently approximately $360,000.
SMSFs offer a flexible option for those wishing to control their future retirement.
Every SMSF must have an auditor who audits the fund every year. Other advisors such as an actuary, accountant, financial advisor, lawyer and/or a stock broker may also assist in providing advice and add value to your fund.
SPAA's objective is to help the SMSF industry selfregulate by:
- Ensuring its SSN' members have met professional standards of advice and education and commit to maintaining currency of knowledge
- Assisting the Regulators and Government to build integrity into the SMSF industry.
